MLB: Seattle 6, Tampa Bay 3

SEATTLE, May 9 (UPI) -- Jose Lopez knocked in three runs in leading a Seattle Mariners' assault on the Tampa Bay bullpen in a 6-3 victory over the Devil Rays.

Lopez' 2-run single drove in the first of five runs Seattle scored in the seventh and eight innings Monday and helped Gil Meche (2-2) collect the victory.

Tampa Bay starter Casey Fossum lasted two batters into the seventh inning but did not figure in the decision as reliever Chad Orvella (1-4) took the loss in giving up three runs on 1 1/3 innings.

With Tampa Bay ahead 3-1 Fossum allowed two singles to open the seventh and Orvella got his first batter out. However, he walked Ichiro Suzuki, loading the bases, and Lopez followed with a single to get two runs home and tie the score.

Another walk loaded the bases again before Richie Sexson got Suzuki home with a foul sacrifice fly.

The Mariners added two runs in the eighth with Adrian Beltre scoring on a wild pitch and Yuniesky Betancourt contributing a run-scoring base hit.
