MLB: N.Y. Mets 4, Pittsburgh 3 (12)

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 4 (UPI) -- Carlos Delgado led off the New York 12th inning with a home run, giving the Mets a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Delgado also had a run-scoring double in the first inning of Wednesday's game. Chad Bradford (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to collect the victory while Mike Gonzalez (0-2) was handed the loss.

The Mets used a 2-run sixth inning to build a 3-1 lead but Pittsburgh victimized New York's closer with two runs in the ninth with consecutive singles by Jose Hernandez and Ronny Paulino accounting for the RBI to send the game into extra innings.

The teams traded single runs in the first inning, with the Pittsburgh run coming on a Freddy Sanchez home run and the Mets answering with doubles from Kaz Matsui and Delgado.
