Two NFL teams for California?

GRAPEVINE, Texas, May 3 (UPI) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he would like two National Football League teams in the city of Los Angeles.

He made a presentation to a committee of 11 team owners and NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue during a meeting Tuesday in Grapevine, Texas.

The league is looking into the possibility of locating one franchise in the city's largest television market.

"Why limit it? Schwarzenegger asked. "That's why I came."

"One team is our immediate goal," said Tagliabue. "Long term, I think two is a realistic goal."

The NFL said on its Web site that Los Angeles plans to build a stadium within the shell of the existing Los Angeles Coliseum, Anaheim is offering a 53-acre tract of land for the stadium and economic development, and Pasadena is considered a long-shot if an update is made on conditions at the site of the annual Rose Bowl.
