CHICAGO, April 26 (UPI) -- A two-run double by Wes Helms in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday afternoon helped Florida beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-5.
The win helped the Marlins (6-13) avoid a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field.
Miguel Cabrera had two hits and scored twice; Chris Aguila and Helms both had two hits; and Josh Willingham hit a two-run homer as Florida rose to 6-13 after snapping a three-game losing streak.
In relief, winner Ricky Nolasco (1-0) hurled two scoreless innings.
Joe Borowski earned his third save.
Aramis Ramirez had two hits, including a home run, and scored twice; Matt Murton had a hit and two RBI; and Jerry Hairston, Jr. also had an RBI for the Cubs (12-8), who fell to 2-1 on their eight-game home-stand.
Loser Scott Williamson (2-1) gave up three runs and three walks while retiring only one batter in the eighth.
