MLB: Seattle 9, Texas 6

SEATTLE, April 20 (UPI) -- Carl Everett hit a 3-run home run in the ninth inning, bringing the Seattle Mariners back from a 5-run deficit and to a 9-6 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Everett's blast, his third of the year, capped a 5-run Seattle rally in the bottom of the ninth and handed Texas' Francisco Cordero (1-2) the loss. Mariner's reliever J.J. Putz (1-0) got the victory.

The Ranger's offense, which touched Seattle starter Jamie Moyer for eight hits and four runs over six innings, was led by Hank Blalock who had three hits and drove in three runs and built a 6-1 lead in the seventh inning. Seattle scored in each the seventh and eighth innings to pull within 6-4.

Cordero was brought in to close the game for the Rangers but hit Ichiro Suzuki with his first pitch. Jose Lopez followed with a double before Raul Ibanez delivered a sacrifice fly and Richie Sexson tied the score with a single.

Kenji Johima also singled and C.J. Wilson replaced Cordero. Everett hit a 1-1 pitch into the left-field stands to end the game.
