NHL: Buffalo 4, Carolina 0

RALEIGH, N.C., April 18 (UPI) -- Jean-Pierre Dumont scored a pair of goals Tuesday to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Martin Biron made 33 saves for his first shutout of the season and Chris Drury had a goal and assist for Buffalo, which won its last five games of the regular season.

Brian Campbell added his 12th goal of the season and Daniel Briere had two assists for the Sabres, who are locked in as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Martin Gerber stopped 30 shots for the Hurricanes, who dropped into the second seed in the East after Ottawa defeated the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
