Petrova, Schiavone win at Amelia Island

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla., April 8 (UPI) -- Nadia Petrova of Russia and Italy's Francesca Schiavone won their semifinal matches Saturday in the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island, Fla.

The top-seeded Petrova was an easy a 6-3, 6-2, winner over Lucie Safarova. No. 3 seed Schiavone beat fifth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova in a walk-over as Kuznetsova was forced to retire after the fifth game in the second set because of a right-leg injury.

Schiavone and Petrova will meet in Sunday's final for the top prize of $95,500.
