NHL: Phoenix 4, San Jose 3 (OT)

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 2 (UPI) -- Steven Reinprecht logged a hat trick 3:55 into overtime as the Phoenix Coyotes downed the visiting San Jose Sharks, 4-3, Saturday night.

Reinprecht scored a goal on the power play, short-handed and at even strength for the Coyotes, who have won three straight. Geoff Sanderson scored his 24th goal of the season. Goaltender Curtis Joseph ended with 26 saves for Phoenix, which has captured six of seven.

Jonathan Cheechoo and Scott Hannan had a goal and an assist each for the Sharks, who salvaged a point to move within three of eighth-place Edmonton in the Western Conference playoff race. Matt Carle also scored. San Jose netminder Vesa Toskala ended with 32 saves.

San Jose went 2-for-6 on the power play, while Phoenix ended 1-for-7 with the man advantage.
