Owens signs with Dallas Cowboys

IRVING, Texas, March 18 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Terrell Owens agreed Saturday to terms on a three-year contract the Dallas Cowboys.

"We understand that this signing will open the door for scrutiny," said Dallas owner/General Manager Jerry Jones. "I know and Terrell knows that much is expected of our players on and off the field. I have always believed in taking advantage of opportunity. Terrell is well known for what he can do. This may really work and work great for the Dallas Cowboys."

After a controversial two years with Philadelphia, the Eagles cut Owens on Tuesday to avoid paying him a $5 million roster bonus.

Owens was suspended or inactive for the final nine games of the 2005 season because of problems with the Eagles front office, Coach Andy Reid and teammates.

"I couldn't be more excited to be here," Owens said. "Of course, I have made some mistakes but I have learned from this ordeal."
