COL BKB: Notre Dame 79, Vanderbilt 69

SOUTH BEND, Ind., March 15 (UPI) -- Torin Francis had 23 points, 11 rebounds and two assists Wednesday night as Notre Dame beat Vanderbilt, 79-69, in the first round of the NIT at South Bend.

Colin Falls had 15 points, two rebounds and two assists. Chris Quinn added 15 points, nine assists and four rebounds and Rob Kurz had nine points and nine rebounds for the Fighting Irish (16-13), who have won three of their last four games.

Derrick Byars had 18 points, six rebounds and two assists. Julian Terrell added 16 points, four rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal, Dan Cage had 11 points and three rebounds, Demarre Carroll totaled eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals and leading scorer Shan Foster was limited to a season-low four points for the Commodores, who finished at 17-13.

Notre Dame won the rebounding battle, 31-30.
