Gaudio, Chela win at Acapulco

ACAPULCO, Mexico, March 3 (UPI) -- Gaston Gaudio and Juan Ignacio Chela Thursday were quarterfinal winners at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tennis tournament in Acapulco, Mexico.

Gaudio, the second seed from Argentina, beat Marcos Daniel of Brazil, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Chela, also from Argentina and the event's seventh seed, topped qualifier Alessio Di Mauro of Italy, 7-5, 6-2.

Also, Luis Horna of Peru beat 2002 winner Agustin Calleri of Argentina, 6-3, 6-4; qualifier Nicolas Almagro of Spain beat countryman Albert Montanes, 6-4, 6-0. Montanes lost the title match last year to Rafael Nadal.

In the semifinals, Gaudio will face Horna and Chela meets Almagro. The 2006 Acapulco titlist will earn $128,000.
