NHL: San Jose 6, Anaheim 4

ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- San Jose's Jonathan Cheechoo notched his third hat trick of the season to lift the visiting Sharks past the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 6-4, Wednesday night.

Mark Smith and Tom Preissing also scored a goal apiece, and Evgeni Nabokov made 35 saves for the Sharks, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Nils Ekman added an empty-net goal and an assist for San Jose.

For Anaheim, Andy McDonald tallied a goal and an assist and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 29 shots. Teemu Selanne, Chris Kunitz and Dustin Penner also scored for the Ducks.

Down 4-3, the Ducks pulled Bryzgalov with 2:51 left, and Penner banged home a rebound to make it 5-4. Then, Ekman added an empty-net goal as time expired.
