NHL: Columbus 2, Calgary 1 (SO)

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Marc Denis made 36 saves for Columbus to keep Calgary off the scoreboard during the shootout, as the visiting Blue Jackets downed the Flames, 2-1.

Nikolai Zherdev scored in regulation, while Jaroslav Balastik and Rick Nash scored in the shootout. Jerome Iginla had the lone goal for Calgary, which has dropped four of its last five. Goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff came up with 19 saves in the loss.

After the game, the Flames announced the trade of center Steven Reinprecht and goaltender Philippe Sauve to Phoenix for goaltender Brian Boucher and left wing Mike Leclerc.
