PISCATAWAY, N.J., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Kyle Lowry recorded 28 points, five assists and five steals Wednesday night as third-ranked Villanova escaped Rutgers, in overtime, 84-78.
Randy Foye added 24 points and three rebounds while Allan Ray had 17 points, three rebounds and three steals for the Wildcats (11-1, 2-1 Big East), who rebounded after their only defeat of the season, a 91-87 loss to West Virginia last Sunday.
Quincy Douby compiled 28 points, three blocked shots and four assists, Marquis Webb added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and J.R. Inman recorded 11 points and six rebounds for the Scarlet Knights (11-4, 1-1 Big East), who have dropped just two of their last seven games.
Rutgers out-rebounded Villanova, 30-26, but was hurt by its 20 turnovers. The Wildcats made 14.
