COL BKB: Villanova 75, Temple 53

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Allan Ray had 20 points and five rebounds Saturday night as second-ranked Villanova routed Temple, 75-53.

Kyle Lowry had 15 points, five boards and four assists; Mike Nardi scored 17 points; and Randy Foye collected nine points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for the Wildcats (9-0), who have started a season with nine straight wins for the first time since the 1961-62 season.

Mardy Collins scored 19 points while Mark Tyndale had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Owls (6-4), who fell for the second time in their last six games.

The Wildcats out-rebounded Temple, 42-29 and led by 37-25 at the break in the Big Five contest.
