OTTAWA, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Bryan Smolinski scored a game-winning goal with under two minutes left Friday night as Ottawa topped the New York Islanders, 4-3.
Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley and Peter Schaefer all scored once; Smolinski added an assist; and goalie Ray Emery made 20 saves for the Senators (27-6-3), who won four in a row.
Chris Campoli, Mattias Weinhandl and Jason Blake scored goals; Mark Parrish, Alexei Yashin, Oleg Kvasha and Wyatt Smith had assists; and in relief, goaltender Garth Snow made 28 saves for the Islanders (17-18-2) who have dropped four straight games.
Ottawa out-shot the Islanders, 37-23. New York was 1-for-4 on the power play while the Senators were 1-for-7.
Ottawa lost Alfredsson to bruised ribs in the second period. His status is unknown.
