NHL: New Jersey 4, Washington 3

WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Grant Marshall had a goal and two assists Friday in helping the New Jersey Devils beat the Washington Capitals, 4-3.

Goaltender Martin Brodeur made 21 saves for the Devils during the holiday matinee. It was Brodeur's first game since Oct. 26, when he suffered a sprained knee against Tampa Bay.

Zach Parise, Brian Gionta and Scott Gomez also scored, Grant Marshall had two assists, and Sergei Brylin, Viktor Kozlov and Jamie Langenbrunner each added one assist for New Jersey, 7-7-2, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Matt Bradley, Jeff Halpern and high-scoring rookie Alexander Ovechkin all scored once, Halpern also had one assist, as did Brian Willsie, Steve Eminger and Chris Clark, and goalie Frederic Cassivi made 26 saves for the Capitals, 6-10-0.
