With Trevor Linden in the box for a cross check, Phaneuf and the Flames took advantage. Phaneuf had just unloaded a slapshot that went off the back boards and around to Iginla at the left circle. Iginla then sent a pass to Phaneuf at the top of the right circle, where he one-timed a slapper past the glove side of Alexander Auld.

Markus Naslund had two goals for the Canucks, who have dropped two in a row and four of their last six. Auld ended with 24 saves, stopping just 9-of-12 in the third period.
