NHL: Phoenix 4, Detroit 1

DETROIT, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Curtis Joseph stopped 36 shots and Phoenix scored all of its goals on the power play in a 4-1 win over Detroit Saturday night.

Mike Leclerc, Zbynek Michalek and Mike Johnson each scored with the extra skater for the Coyotes, who have won two in a row and four of their last six. Mike Comrie chipped in an empty-net goal and an assist in the victory.

Tomas Holmstrom scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who had won nine straight prior to losing their last two, one in overtime.

Chris Osgood made 25 saves in the defeat.

Holmstrom gave Detroit a 1-0 lead just 2:23 into the game when he snapped a shot from the slot past Joseph for his fourth goal. The Coyotes tied it with just under three minutes to play in the opening period on a power-play goal by Leclerc.
