NHL: N.Y. Rangers 3, New Jersey 2 (SO)

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Petr Prucha scored in a sudden death shootout Saturday as the New York Rangers beat New Jersey, 3-2.

Prucha also scored once in regulation; Blair Betts sent the game into overtime with a goal midway through the third period; Jason Ward, Jaromir Jagr, and Jason Strudwick had assists; and goalie Kevin Weekes made 23 saves for the Rangers (8-4-3), who have won four of their last five games. They swept a home-and-home series with the Devils (6-7-1).

Brian Gionta scored both goals for New Jersey, which has dropped three in a row. Brian Rafalski and Sean Brown each had one assist, and goaltender Scott Clemmensen stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced.

New York was 1-for-6 on the power play while New Jersey went 1-for-5. The Rangers won the shots on goal battle, 40-29.
