NHL: Boston 6, Pittsburgh 3

BOSTON, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton and Jiri Slegr each had two goals and an assist in Boston's 6-3 win over Pittsburgh Saturday night.

Nick Boynton and Patrice Bergeron also scored for the Bruins, who are now on a modest two-game winning streak. Hannu Toivonen made 26 saves in the win.

Boynton put Boston up 1-0 just 28 seconds into the opening period with an unassisted goal.

Mark Recchi scored twice and Lasse Pirjeta once for the Penguins, who had their two-game winning streak stopped. Mario Lemieux and Ray Whitney each added two assists in the loss.

Pittsburgh's Jocelyn Thibault made 13 saves in relief of starting goaltender Sebastien Caron, who allowed five goals on 18 shots faced.
