Brehaut on top at Palm Harbor

PALM HARBOR, Fla., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Jeff Brehaut fired a 6-under-par 65 Thursday to grab the lead after 18 holes of the Chrysler Championship at Palm Harbor, Fla.

Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen, Tom Lehman, Charles Howell III, Dean Wilson and Ben Crane are tied for second place at 4-under-par 67.

Brehaut, who currently is 61st on the money list, needs a top-30 finish for a spot in next week's Tour Championship.

The winner of last week's FUNAI Classic, Lucas Glover, is tied for seventh with Davis Love III, Bernhard Langer, Jesper Parnevik, Steve Allan, Peter Lonard, Billy Mayfair and Rocco Mediate at 3-under 68.

Defending champion Vijay Singh, who missed the cut last week, again struggled on Thursday. He was 1-under par when he reached the par-four 16th tee, but pushed his tee shot into the water, made a double-bogey and finished at 3-over 74 after bogeys on the last two holes.
