Daly gains 14 spots in World Golf Rankings

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- John Daly lost in a playoff to Tiger Woods Sunday but still gained 14 spots in Monday's World Golf Rankings.

Woods won the WGC-American Express Championship when Daly missed a short par putt on the second playoff hole, but Daly rose from 37th to No. 23 in this week's official rankings.

Woods remained in first, followed by Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Retief Goosen. Sergio Garcia, who tied for third place Sunday, was sixth with Adam Scott and Chris DiMarco seventh and eighth.

Jim Furyk and David Toms each moved up two spots to ninth and 10th, respectively. Angel Cabrera and Kenny Perry fell two places to make room for Furyk and Toms.
