MLB: N.Y. Yankees 3, L.A. Angels 2

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Derek Jeter hit a run-scoring single Sunday night as New York edged the L.A. Angels of Anaheim, 3-2 in Game 4 of their American League Divisional Series.

The five-game set is now tied at two games each with the climactic fifth game scheduled for Monday night at Anaheim.

Gary Sheffield also had an RBI, Ruben Sierra tied the game at 2-2 with a pinch-hit single in the seventh, and Yankees' starter Shawn Chacon surrendered only two runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings.

In relief, the winner was Al Leiter (1-0). Mariano Rivera earned his second save of the post-season.

Chone Figgins and Orlando Cabrera each drove in a run for the Angels, who blew a two-run lead and failed in their chance to get back to the ALCS for the first time since 2002, when they won the World Series.

Angels starter John Lackey gave up one run on two hits over 5 2/3 innings, with four walks and six strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Scot Shields (1-1).
