BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Freshman Branden Ore ran for 146 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries Saturday afternoon as third-ranked Virginia Tech ripped Marshall, 41-14.
Quarterback Marcus Vick was 11-of-16 passing for 163 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception.
Cedric Humes, who suffered a fractured right forearm, and George Bell added rushing touchdowns for the unbeaten Hokies, who improved to 6-0 (3-0 ACC).
Humes rushed for 58 yards on 10 carries.
Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 99 yards and one touchdown for Marshall (2-3), which has lost three of its last four contests. Bernie Morris was 14-of-28 for 117 yards, with one scoring pass and one interception.
Virginia Tech, which has won the last five meetings between the two schools, now leads the all-time series by 7-2.
