Rams' tight end Williams lost for season

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- St. Louis Rams tight end Roland Williams is expected to miss the remainder of the season after dislocating his right knee.

Williams suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. He was carried off the field with his leg in a splint.

St. Louis Coach Mike Martz said Williams didn't suffer any blood vessel damage but did sustain severe damage to the knee, tearing ligaments that will require major surgery.

Williams was replacing starting tight end Brandon Manumaleuna, who was out with a knee injury of his own.

Martz said the team will bring in veteran Cam Cleeland to take over the tight end duties.
