KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Matt Stairs hit a three-run homer Monday to help the Kansas City Royals pile up a 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Angel Berroa added a pair of runs and an RBI for the Royals, who ended a three-game losing streak.

Carlos Pena hit a two-run homer for the Tigers, who suffered their fourth straight loss, Ivan Rodriguez went 2-for-4 and Chris Shelton scored two runs for Detroit.
Royals starting pitcher Mike Wood (5-7) earned the win, allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings. The loss went to the Detroit starter Jeremy Bonderman (14-13), who gave up seven runs on 11 hits in just 4 2/3 innings.
