MLB: Detroit 17, Toronto 6

DETROIT, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge had three hits and three RBI Sunday afternoon as Detroit clobbered the Toronto Blue Jays, 17-6.

Carlos Pena and Curtis Granderson each hit three-run homers, Craig Monroe also had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Vance Wilson had two hits as the Tigers completed a three-game sweep. Monroe has four home runs in his last seven games and nine RBI over his last five.

Winner Sean Douglass improved to 5-2.

For the Blue Jays, Eric Hinske and Ken Huckaby each went 3-for-4, with Hinske smacking a two-run homer. It was Toronto's fourth loss in six games.

Hinske recorded his 500th career hit with a single in the fifth inning.

Loser Dustin McGowan fell to 1-1. He was hammered for 12 runs and 9 hits in only 4 2/3 innings.

It was Detroit's highest scoring output of the season.
