Doyle bags big win at Kettering

KETTERING, Ohio, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Allen Doyle shot an 8-under 63 Sunday to erase a nine-shot deficit in the final round and win the U.S. Senior Open.

Doyle finished at 10-under 274. He won by a stroke over Loren Roberts and D.A. Weibring, and earned $470,000. He grabbed his first victory of the year and first since last year's Bayer Advantage Celebrity Pro-Am. His previous major wins came at the 1999 PGA Seniors' Championship and the 2001 Senior Players Championship.

Greg Norman, in only his second event on the Champions Tour, carded a two-under 69 and came in fourth at 8-under-par 276. Tom Watson, last week's Senior British Open champion, shot an even-par 71 Sunday and shared fifth with Wayne Levi, who posted a 3-under 68. The pair finished at minus-seven.
