MLB: Arizona 13, Chi. Cubs 6

PHOENIX, July 31 (UPI) -- Chris Snyder hit his first career grand slam and added a solo shot Sunday as Arizona routed the Chicago Cubs, 13-6.

It was Snyder's second career two-homer game and first this season.

Luis Gonzalez hit two solo home runs and had three RBI, and Tony Clark hit a two-run homer for the Diamondbacks, who won four of five to move into a tie with San Diego for first place in the National League West.

Winner Brandon Webb rose to 9-8. He yielded two runs and three hits over seven innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Webb also hit an RBI single.

Todd Walker had three hits, scored two runs, and drove in a run for the Cubs, who have dropped three of four.

Loser Greg Maddux fell to 8-8. He was blasted for six runs and eight hits over only four innings. He walked one and struck out one.
