ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 28 (UPI) -- Carl Crawford hit a key two-run homer Thursday night as Tampa Bay beat Kansas City, 10-5.

Jonny Gomes also homered and Julio Lugo had two RBI for Tampa Bay, which has won five of its last seven games.

Winning pitcher Scott Kazmir (6-7) gave up seven hits and five runs over seven innings with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Loser Kyle Snyder (0-2) surrendered nine runs and 12 hits over five innings with no walks and one strikeout.

The Devil Rays outhit the Royals, 14-7.

Chip Ambres hit his first major league homer and drove in two runs for the Royals, who also got two RBI from Mike Sweeney.
