MLB: ChiSox 2, Detroit 1

DETROIT, June 28 (UPI) -- Mark Buehrle worked 6 2/3 innings to pick up his ninth straight victory Tuesday night when the Chicago White Sox posted a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Jermaine Dye hit a home run for the White Sox, who have won nine of their last 11 games.

Buehrle (10-1) scattered eight hits and didn't walk a batter to remain unbeaten in 14 consecutive starts. His lone loss of the season came April 10 at Minnesota. Dustin Hermanson earned his 18th save with a scoreless ninth inning for the AL Central-leading White Sox.

Chris Shelton had the lone RBI for the Tigers, who have lost four of their last five games. Placido Polanco and Rondell White had each had a pair of hits for Detroit.

Detroit's Nate Robertson (3-6) was the loser although he gave up only two runs on six hits and struck out nine in seven innings.
