SAN FRANCISCO, June 23 (UPI) -- Jason Schmidt struck out a season-high 10 batters in leading the San Francisco Giants to a 4-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Schmidt, 5-3, allowed just five hits and walked two, and has thrown 17 straight scoreless innings.

Moises Alou went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Giants.
Luis Gonzalez had two of the five hits for the Diamondbacks, who have lost six of seven.
Arizona starter Brad Halsey, 4-6, suffered his fourth consecutive loss, yielding four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked three.
