MLB: Washington 5, Pittsburgh 4

PITTSBURGH, June 22 (UPI) -- A two-run single by Brian Schneider in the eighth inning Wednesday gave the Washington Nationals a 5-4 win over the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Jose Guillen had his second two-homer game of the series and fourth this season for Washington. Guillen, who had four hits and two RBI, now has 15 homers for the season.

Ryan Church also had an RBI, Hector Carrasco, 3-1, picked up the win by tossing 1 2/3 perfect innings of relief, and Chad Cordero recorded his 23rd save for the National League East leaders.

In relief, Mike Gonzalez fell to 0-3.

Jason Bay hit a two-run homer and Rob Mackowiak and Matt Lawton added solo shots for the Pirates, who have dropped eight of their last 10 games.
