MLB: Atlanta 5, Florida 0

ATLANTA, June 21 (UPI) -- John Smoltz pitched a five-hit shutout Tuesday to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 5-0 victory over the Florida Marlins.

Smoltz (7-5) pitched his 15th career shutout and first since 1999. The 1996 NL Cy Young Award winner, who has won four of his last five outings, allowed just five singles while striking out six and walking two.

This was the second complete game of the season for Smoltz as the 38-year-old righthander also went the distance on June 11 against Oakland.

Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer and had three RBI for the Braves, who have won four of their last five games.

A.J. Burnett (4-5) got the loss after being charged with three runs on six hits over six innings. Jeff Conine had two hits for Florida, which has lost three of its last four games.
