MLB: Kansas City 5, NY Yankees 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 31 (UPI) -- Zack Greinke won his first game of the year Tuesday night and made Buddy Bell's debut a successful one as Kansas City beat the New York Yankees, 5-3.

Bell became manager of the Royals earlier in the day, taking over for Bob Schaefer.

Schaefer had managed Kansas City since Tony Pena resigned earlier this month. Greinke had lost his first six decisions, but limited the Yankees to three runs on three hits over five innings. Mike MacDougal got the save as the Royals won for the second time in 10 games.

The loss went to Kevin Brown (4-5), who gave up five runs on nine hits in seven innings. The Yankees were without Manager Joe Torre, who was suspended for one game because of a bean ball incident last week.
