The event celebrates NASCAR's All-Star week by bringing its weekly race champions from the previous 16 months and former All-Star winners together for a Saturday night, 90-lap shootout. The winner got more than $1 million.
Twenty-two drivers started the "main" event after Brian Vickers won the "Nextel Open, the qualifying race for all those who had not originally made the field. Vickers edged out Mike Bliss after he sent him spinning on the final lap. He beat Bliss to the finish line by just 0.114 seconds, even though Bliss was going sideways at the time.
"He spun me out," said Bliss. "I don't like to drive that way. If that's the way he wants to drive we have 600 miles coming here next week."
