Dougherty leads Irish Open after 54 holes

MAYNOOTH COUNTY, KILDARE, Ireland, May 21 (UPI) -- Englishman Nick Dougherty shot a 5-under 67 Saturday for a three-round total of 9-under 207 and a two-stroke lead in the the Irish Open.

Oliver Wilson had a 66 Saturday and at 7-under 209 is tied for second with fellow Englishman David Howell, who shot a 69.

Stephen Dodd, the second-round leader, posted an even-ar 72 and was tied for fourth at 211 with Jose-Filipe Lima and Andrew McLardy.

Dougherty, 22, picked up his first European Tour victory earlier this season at the Caltex Masters.

Padraig Harrington, the top Irishman in the field, had a 68 and moved into a tie for seventh at 213. Also at seventh was 66-shooting Titch Moore, Philip Golding, Jose Maria Olazabal, Angel Cabrera, and Pelle Edberg.
