MLB: LA Angels 4, Detroit 2 (1st game)

DETROIT, May 14 (UPI) -- Jeff DaVanon had three hits, an RBI and a run Saturday when the LA Angels beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-2, in the first game of a doubleheader.

Friday's game had been postponed due to rain, setting up Saturday's twin bill. Saturday play was delayed 26 minutes from the start due to rain and then again for 39 minutes in the sixth inning.

Garret Anderson and Darin Erstad each drove in a run for the Angels, who have won two of their last three games. Craig Monroe had an RBI single and Ivan Rodriguez an RBI double for the Tigers, who have lost two of their last three.

With the score tied at 2-2, the Angels took the lead for good with two runs in the seventh inning. The first of those runs scored on a bunt and the other on a wild pitch by Franklyn German.
