TUCSON, March 17 (UPI) -- Andrew Bogut led Utah to a 60-54 victory over Texas-El Paso in an NCAA Tournament first-round game Thursday.

Bogut had 24 points and 11 rebounds.

The Utes (28-5) are seeded sixth in the Austin regional. UTEP was seeded No. 11.

Omar Thomas scored 24 points for the Miners, who trailed by 13 points in the second half but caught up and kept the score close the rest of the way.

Utah clinched the win with free throws in the last half-minute of play.
