FLINT, Mich., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Former NFL star Andre Rison is spending the holidays in a jail in Georgia, where he is charged with failing to pay $200,000 in child support.
The 37-year-old has been incarcerated in DeKalb County since Dec. 8, the Flint, Mich., Journal reports.

Rison, a native of Flint and star at Michigan State, spent 12 seasons with the NFL, ending his career in Oakland. He was suspended for four games in 2001 for drug violations and most recently played with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
Rison's lawyers say that he has spent the money he made in the NFL and is unable to pay his child support obligations. The next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 3, so he is likely to spend New Year's Eve behind bars.
