TEMPE, Ariz., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Josh McCown threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more Sunday as the Arizona Cardinals defeated the St. Louis Rams, 31-7.

McCown completed 22 of 34 passes for 287 yards. He threw both of his scoring passes to Larry Fitzgerald for the Cardinals (5-9), who topped the 30-point mark for the second time this season. McCown also had nine rushes for 33 yards and his two TDs.

Jamie Martin relieved an ineffective Chris Chandler and passed for 188 yards for the Rams (6-8), who would have assumed the top spot in the NFC West with a victory by virtue of Seattle's loss to the Jets Sunday.

St. Louis has lost four of five games overall and five straight road games.

St. Louis trails the 7-7 Seahawks for the top spot in the NFC West, but holds a tiebreaker over Seattle by virtue of two head-to-head victories.
