COL FB: California 26, Soun Miss 16

HATTIESBURG, Miss., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- J. J. Arrington ran for 261 yards Saturday night to lead the 4th-ranked California Golden Bears to a 26-16 victory over Southerhn Mississippi.

The Golden Bears (10-1) have won seven straight and are expected to get their first Rose Bowl berth in 46 years.

Aaron Rodgers completed 15 of 28 passes for 223 yards with two touchdowns and one interception for Cal, which outgained Southern Miss 323-23 on the ground.

The Bears gained 546 total yards and ended the regular season with 10 wins for the first time since 1949.

Dustin Almond was 17 of 37 for 304 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Eagles (6-5), who ended their regular season dropping five of their last seven. Almond also ran for a TD.

Despite the loss, Southern Miss will still play North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl.
