Goosen wins PGA Tour Championship

ATLANTA, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. Open champ Retief Goosen overcame a four-shot deficit Sunday to win the season-ending PGA Tour Championship.

Goosen closes with a 6-under 64 to finish four strokes ahed of second place Tiger Woods at 11-under 269.

Woods, tied for the lead after the third round, had a 2-over 72 Sunday.

Woods and Jay Haas enjoyed a four-shot lead heading into the final round.

Goosen got his second win this season and his fifth on the PGA Tour. He earned $1,080,000 to finish the season sixth on the PGA Tour money list.

Jerry Kelly had a 66 to finish third at 274. Mike Weir (70), Stephen Ames (67) and Mark Hensby (70) shared fourth at 275.

Haas, who at 50 was the oldest player ever to qualify for this event, shot a closing 75 and tied for seventh place at 276 with Scott Verplank, who shot a 67 on Sunday.
