MLB: Houston 6, St. Louis 5

HOUSTON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The Houston Astros evened the National League Championship Series at two games each Sunday when they beat the St, Louis Cardinals, 6-5, in Game 4.

Carlos Beltran his a solo home run, his eighth in this year's playoffs, with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a tie.

Game 5 of the best-of-7 series will be Monday night in Houston.

Beltran's homer off Julian Tavarez gave the Astros a 6-5 lead. That tied the major league record for most home runs in a single postseason. Barry Bonds hit eight during the 2002 playoffs. Beltran also established a record by homering in five straight postseason contests.

Lance Berkman also hit a home run and drove in three runs for Houston.

Dan Wheeler won in relief as he worked a scoreless seventh inning.
