CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Mike Hart rushed for 235 yards on 40 carries Saturday as 13th-ranked Michigan topped Illinois, 30-19.
The Wolverines needed to outscore the inspired Illini in the fourth quarter to avoid an upset.

Michigan improved to 6-1 (4-0 Big Ten), as Illinois dropped to 2-5 (0-4 Big Ten).
Jon Beutjer went 20-of-40 passing for 158 yards and one touchdown for the Illini. He had three interceptions.
Chad Henne wasn't any better for Michigan, going just 14-of-27 for 113 yards and one touchdown. He had two passes picked off.
Illinois used a 17-point second quarter to take a 17-10 advantage at halftime.
