ATLANTA, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Mike Hampton won for the eighth time in his last nine decisions and singled in a run leading Atlanta to a 6-4 win over Colorado Thursday night.
The victory produced a three-game sweep for the Braves who have won four straight and 20 of their last 27 games.
Atlanta also widened its lead in the National League East to 9 1/2 games over Florida, which lost Thursday.
The Braves jumped on the Rockies in the first inning as Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones each drove in a run for a 2-0 lead.
Colorado tied it in the third inning on a two-run double by Todd Helton but Atlanta moved back ahead with three fourth-inning runs.
Hampton (10-9) allowed six hits, four walks and two runs in six frames. John Smoltz notched his 34th save of the season.
Loser Jamey Wright (1-2) was shellacked for nine hits, four walks and six runs over five innings.
