MLB: Tampa Bay 6, Seattle 5

SEATTLE, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays took an early lead over the Seattle Mariners, and never gave it up to log a 6-5 victory at Safeco Field.

Rob Bell threw seven solid innings for Tampa, and Tino Martinez smacked a two-run homer. Bell allowed two runs on three hits to earn the win. He fanned three with one walk for Tampa Bay, which has won three straight after dropping 10 of 11.

Julio Lugo, Damian Rolls and Rey Sanchez each had an RBI in the win.

Ryan Franklin surrendered four runs on eight hits to absorb the loss. He struck out four with two walks for the Mariners, who dropped to 32 games under .500. Seattle's 46-78 record marks the first time the club has been 32 games under .500 since finishing the 1983 season 60-102.
