Rice edges Kanaan at Michigan Indy 400

BROOKLYN, Mich., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Buddy Rice edged Tony Kanaan Sunday to win the Michigan Indy 400.

Kanaan had dominated for most of the afternoon. But Rice got past him on lap 191 and went on to take the checkered flag 0.0796 seconds ahead of runner-up Kanaan.

The victory was Rice's third of the season and third of his IndyCar career.

Dan Wheldon, Sam Hornish Jr. and Vitor Meira completed the top-five.
