MINNEAPOLIS, July 30 (UPI) -- Jason Varitek was three for four with a homer Friday night to help power Boston to an 8-2 decision over Minnesota.
Gabe Kapler also had three hits and drove in three runs to make a winner out of Bronson Arroyo.

Arroyo (4-7) scattered eight hits over 7 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Kapler singled in a run in the first, scored in Boston's three-run fourth and singled home two more in the fifth to give the Red Sox a seven-run lead.
Varitek's 12th homer of the season capped the scoring in the eighth.
Kyle Lohse (4-8) gave up seven runs on 11 hits in four innings. Minnesota lost for just the second time in 11 games.
